THE shallow nature of the Brexit debate shows no sign of abating as the comments in today's HAS (May 14) demonstrate. No facts, no figures, just entrenched camps.
We won, you lost, get over it, is the standard cry from Leavers.
Remainers and businesses may as well keep any economic arguments to themselves as the Brexiteers are clearly unable and unwilling to listen. Only the consequences will make them understand.
I have accepted the referendum result and the fate which awaits the UK. When our economy has crashed, our businesses have shed thousands of jobs, the North-East has lost all of its EU grants, Ireland has descended again into sectarian violence, I will watch the Leavers try to blame others for hampering the negotiations.
I only hope the Tory party which is responsible for the sorry mess will be held accountable and consigned to the political dustbin.
