WHEN is a white elephant worth more than human life?
When the white elephant is the pet of Durham County Council, namely Durham County Cricket Club’s Emirates Riverside Ground, whose electric bill alone could light up Blackpool Tower never mind North Bitchburn.
They tried turning the Ferryhill Chilton bypass lights off before they were forced to go back on after a human outcry.
Well here we are again. Why not demolish this blot on the landscape cricket ground folly and put the money wasted on trying to feed this monstrosity to good use - maybe something like saving lives starting with those in North Bitchburn.
