WOULD having more public holidays on our patron saints feast days be a good idea? Our present holidays are already grouped too closely together.

Adding saints’ days would mean two holidays in March, three in April and we already have two in May.

If I were still employed I would much rather have extended annual leave, which I could take when it suited me. Public holidays are an anachronism – overcrowded roads and overburdened facilities. They are a relic of a time when many people got no other holiday.
