FURTHER to the article headlined Deeds, not words emphasising the views of Redcar Labour MP Anna Turley (Echo, Feb 10).

What one has seen on a regular basis is various proposals for the redundant steelmaking area in and around Redcar, and several ministers regularly visiting Teesside.

Whilst it is the relatively new Conservative Tees Valley mayor Ben Houchen who fronts such visits, he is backed up by the South Tees Development Corporation with five Labour leaders at the political helm, and these, along with others endorsed their masterplan for the old SSI Redcar site back in October.

The hope of a £1bn investment has sparked 60-plus expressions of interest. Hence one can remain hopeful that expressions of interest will develop into the thousands of jobs promised and will replace the 2,900 jobs lost in 2015.
