THE driver of the coach who killed grandmother Parminder Dhinsa seems to have got off rather lightly in comparison to ‘Ban for biker found over the limit’ (Echo, Nov 4).

Being found guilty of causing death by careless driving the coach driver received a 12 month community order and a 12 month driving disqualification.

The biker was given an 18 week prison sentence and disqualified from driving for five years.

Both were found guilty of very serious offences but the biker didn’t cause the death of anyone.

The report in the paper did not state what form of careless driving it was or if the biker had a previous record of driving over the limit.

Should the magistrates at Scarborough and Peterlee not get together for a discussion about consistency?
