HOW refreshing to see Phil Wilson, the Labour candidate in yesterday's Sedgefield by-election, at our new banner parade (Echo, July 12).
It is hoped that, if elected, it will be the first of many to Trimdon Station and Deaf Hill.
It is a pity that a picture of our banner group was not featured among those that were used, as they were the people who worked so hard to make this event possible and were also successful in having the banner paraded and blessed at last weekend's Durham Miners' Gala, where all concerned enjoyed a thrilling day.
Thanks must go to Christine and David Chaytor, Laraine and Mary Grigg, Betty, Sharon and Neil Young, the Robinson family, George Martin, Sean Wainwright, Lynsey and Dennis Jordan, the Band and all helpers and supporters. Well done all.
Jim Grigg, Chairman, Deaf Hill Regeneration Partnership, Trimdon Station, Co Durham.
