UP UNTIL a few months ago, we had excellent street lights, not too bright, but good enough to see your way and to feel some degree of safety.

Then one day the County Council men arrived and replaced them all with downlighting LED lamps, and now the dark evenings have arrived they are truly awful. I phoned the council to say how bad they are, but it was a case of “tough luck”, they are to save money and reduce light pollution.

What about the feelings of the community, about health and safety, do these not matter anymore?

Looking out after sunset it is now almost totally black.
