IN his book 1984, George Orwell described a society brainwashed by its powerful leaders through the manner of its news reports and tight control of its media.
His book wasn’t a pure fantasy but intended as a comment on how the leaders of countries like Russia were indeed controlling their people.
Throughout history ‘politically correct’ versions of reality have misled people into accepting how they should think and what is right and wrong.
Our acceptance of the EU as political representatives of Europe is still promoted to this day, in our news and even entertainment and ‘comedy’ programmes like The Mash Report.
Brexit, they imply is a big mistake to be suffered or got round. Good news is ‘despite Brexit’; bad news is ‘because the government is distracted by Brexit’. There is no reason at all for Britain and Europe not to continue trading with each other.
The only obstacle is the selfserving political ambitions of the EU commission.
If Britain prospers on leaving their control other countries in Europe will also realise they are an expensive waste of space, hence their demand for £80bn, and the use of whatever delaying tactic they can.
