CLOSED: Owengate will be closed on weekdays throughout the summer whil work takes place to improve disabled access to Durham Cathedral
DURHAM COUNTY COUNCIL is closing Owengate, the main vehicle and pedestrian route to Durham Cathedral, every weekday for the whole of the summer (Echo, Jul 21).
Was this upgrade so urgent that it needed to totally disrupt most of the tourist season? Could the work not have been done earlier or later to minimise disruption?
As a Durham resident, I despair of what is happening to our lovely city!
