THIS week we enjoy a break from our domestic politicians, who bless them, are so worn out by being in work for a couple of weeks, needed a holiday to get over the Christmas break.
However, the uproar about Article 50 has provided the smoke screen to allow our useless fishing minister, George Eustice, to escape being lambasted in the press for his stupid comments about the changes to the fishing industry following our departure.
He said that Brexit will provide a “good deal” for fishermen because current quotas give a “disproportionately large” share of catches to fishermen from the European Union.
He said that after Brexit the UK will strike new “reciprocal” arrangements with the EU which will give fishermen a greater share of catches in British waters and abroad.
No, no, no, what does he not realise? When we voted to leave we voted for all of our territorial waters to be returned and therefore there is no need to negotiate away any of our fish with anybody.
We want a rebirth of this fundamental industry – new boatbuilding, processing and collection to build on the sovereign entitlement of our people to manage this resource for the good of all not to carve it up with the EU.
Employment and a future for all who have been robbed of their birthright is what we voted for, not appeasing faceless politicians and businessmen in the EU.
Anything less will be a betrayal and not be countenanced by the people.
