LAST month I walked along the river at Broken Scar, near Darlington.
I love this walk. It is quiet, peaceful and beautiful.
Then I met a group of nine teenagers, clearly bent on having a good time on the river bank, in high spirits, and carrying a great many plastic bags full of food and drink.
I hoped that they would have the good manners to take their rubbish away with them. Sadly, I was to be disappointed.
The rubbish was still there two days later polluting the environment and endangering any children playing there.
These young people must know better, so why don’t they care?
Who is teaching our children to be so careless of the natural world?
A Bailey, Darlington.
