THE photograph that appeared in From the Editor's Chair showing the new sign outside the Fleece Inn in Northallerton was certainly "eyecatching" (Echo, Mar 30). In its Olde English type script, it says: "The oldest put in Northallerton where Charles Dickens is said to have wrote Nicholas Nickleby."
It seems to me, however, that the person who put the wording together, was influenced more by Ernie Wise, than Charles Dickens.
