THE Conservative party under Margaret Thatcher abolished apprenticeship schemes in this country and then the Conservative and Liberal parties increased tuition fees to £9,000 in England (but not in Scotland), while in Wales they pay just over £3,000.
As well as increasing student fees, the Coalition cut the number of training places for nurses by 7,000 and is now bringing in 10,000 nurses from other countries because we are short of nurses.
I think that ex-MPs should keep their noses out of this argument.
They had their chance and failed.
There is no way the tuition fees in England should be £9,000, everyone's sons and daughters are not given a safe seat to become an MP.
