LEAVING TOWN: Marks and Spencer has announced plans to close its outlet store in Redcar after more than 75 years in the town
I WAS disappointed to hear of the closure plans for the Marks and Spencer outlet in Redcar.
However, while councils are determined to charge for parking the results will be the same.
We only go to the High Street for two reasons – to work or to shop.
M&S does not need financial advice from George Dunning, leader of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, who presides over an authority with debts of £178 million.
Following his model, M&S would have been bankrupt a very long time ago.
Failure to plan is a plan to fail.
If we want our town centres to be still a thriving part of the local shopping scene we need to invest in them or suffer the obvious results.
