THE picture in Dales Diary (Echo, May 10) of a sign on a gate near Middleton-in-Teesdale warning people there was a bull in the field reminded me of a genuine sign I saw many years ago attached to a gate. It said: “The cows in this field will let you through for nothing, but the bull might charge.”
