WHEN I heard the midnight news that Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio had become the Premier League’s first casualty of the season (Echo, Sept 23) I thought it had come too late for the daily papers but this was not the case with The Northern Echo.
With every other paper seeming to miss the event, our favourite read had the right front page.
A photo of Di Canio accompanied by a single word – Sacked – adequately conveyed the message.
