THE controversy of where to lay to rest the remains of the Mediaeval King seems neverending (Echo, Mar 30).
Richard III was killed at the Battle of Bosworth. No doubt he was hurriedly buried at Leicester, probably to avoid being mutilated further, which appears to be the norm at that time.
He was the last king of the House of York and he spent some of his early years in Yorkshire, in Middleham Castle.
This relates to his close association with Yorkshire and the then-capital of the North, York.
To be buried in York Minster can be his only destiny.
