Would I Lie To You? (BBC1, 10.35pm); RHS Tatton Flower Show (BBC2, 8pm); Medium (Living, 9pm).

IT’S odd some of the things that Would I Lie To You? has made public.

Like the fact that Russell Howard used to put underpants on his head to try to cure acne. Or that Jack Whitehall’s dad makes the whole family stand up to watch the Queen’s speech every Christmas.

One of the good things about the show is the element of finding out something about some of TV’s more famous faces that you never would have believed was true. Both the revelations mentioned have been uncovered on the programme.

Since it began, the show has been given a bit of a makeover. Its original host, Angus Deayton, was replaced by Gavin and Stacey star Rob Brydon, which raised the comedy quota.

Also, a new section where the contestants have to uncover the truth about celebrities using archive footage was introduced.

That’s not to say that everything’s changed though. Team captains Lee Mack and David Mitchell have been present throughout and they’ve both become quite adept at spotting a liar in their midst.

Who can forget when Frankie Boyle tried to make us believe that when he was a child he thought his life was a book being read by a bear and one day his life would end when the bear closed the book?

It’s lies like these, the more preposterous the better, that tend to make the teams think twice.

The new series kicks off tonight with Fern Britton among those on the panel.

She appeared on the show last series, when she revealed that she takes a tea cosy with her wherever she goes as she hates cold tea.

Then there’s thespian Richard E Grant, comedian and actor Sanjeev Bhaskar and Doc Martin himself, Martin Clunes, also appearing on the show.

THE Tatton Park Flower Show has made a name for itself as the place to find out about hot new trends in gardening, with emerging talent showcasing innovative designs in the Young Designer and Visionary Gardens award categories.

But for the more traditional gardener, there’s still plenty of entertainment to be had. Features that made the show popular, including the national flower bed competition, show gardens, arts and heritage pavilion and plant plaza, are back again.

This year’s coverage is hosted by Gardeners’ World team Toby Buckland, Carol Klein and Joe Swift. Buckland only joined the Gardeners’ World team two years ago, but has already earned a reputation for creating innovative, artistic gardens using recycled materials.

The big question is who will take the crown from Visit Chester and Cheshire, who last year took the Best Show Garden title?

IF you lack the gift of foresight, you probably wouldn’t have guessed just what a hit the paranormal thriller Medium would become. But here we are at the start of season six about the suburban mum who just happens to be able to talk to the dead.

Patricia Arquette stars as the woman who works as a part-time consultant to the district attorney’s office in a series inspired by the true-life story of research medium Allison DuBois.

Allison frequently sees the future in her dreams. That makes her an invaluable tool in solving the crimes that perplex her boss, DA Devalos (Miguel Sandoval), as her powers help the authorities to capture criminals who might have otherwise got away with their gruesome crimes.

In tonight’s episode, Allison and her family cope with the outcome of her brain surgery, while cops Scanlon and Devalos investigate the possible stalking of a popular local sportscaster.
