THE art of any great drama is grabbing the audience by the scruff of the neck and not letting go until the closing titles. Which is one reason fast-moving, hard-hitting cops-androbbers saga Line Of Duty has touched a chord with the masses.
It helps that the show features some of the best actors in showbusiness, including Keeley Hawes (light years away from her glam heroine in Ashes to Ashes), Adrian Dunbar and Vicky McClure.
In the latest part Lindsay is remanded in custody on a murder charge, and her first thought on hearing the verdict is wondering who will take care of Bella, her cat.
When she becomes the victim of a violent attack, Lindsay confides in Kate that she had a previous relationship with an executive police officer, who may have wanted her framed.
There aren’t many laughs, but there are a few twists that should leave fans perched on the edge of their sofas.
