A FORMER road grit depot on the edge of a Teesdale village will be redeveloped with new housing.
James Harker plans to demolish four buildings at the former Department of Transport storage depot, in Bowes, and replace them with 14 homes.
There will be four detached, eight terraced and two semi-detached properties, all will have three bedrooms and include two affordable units.
Durham County Council’s area planning committee (south and west) discussed the scheme on Thursday, when members heard the original proposal was amended to alleviate local concerns.
The number of accesses made through an existing stone wall was reduced to four and, though councillors still had road safety concerns, they felt it would be a good quality build on a sustainable site and unanimously approved the plan.
