YOUNG footballers were left feeling inspired after they had the chance to look around a premiership team’s stadium.

Students from Wolsingham School, in Weardale, who are part of the Martin Gray Football Academy went on a stadium tour of St James’ Park in Newcastle to have a look around.

The 35 youngsters had the chance to see the home and away changing rooms, the TV press toom and got to walk through the players’ tunnel, sit in the dug outs and stand pitch side.

They got to go on the trip as a reward for their hard work in the classroom and effort in training on the football pitch.

Wolsingham School teacher Christine Gray said: “Our footballers had a fantastic day and are now aiming to achieve even more in their football careers, no doubt hoping that one day they will be part of the world of premiership football.”

The Martin Gray Football Academy gives pupils the chance to get training with specialist coaches once a week, take part in regular competitive matches and have access to mentoring sessions and workshops which focus on academic studies.
