DISABLED cycling fans are being offered the chance to watch the climax of the opening stage of the Tour de France.
Harrogate Borough Council has set aside 100 spaces for people with disabilities and their carers at the top of Parliament Street in the town, within sight of the stage one finish line on West Park.
John McGivern, the council’s Tour de France Event Planner, said: “We wanted to make sure that everyone, regardless of ability, gets an opportunity to enjoy this sporting spectacular.
"This area in Harrogate couldn’t be a better site for viewing the race and especially the sprint finish.”
Those requesting spaces need to prove their entitlement to disability living allowance, with the higher mobility component.
