AN airline is offering a flying course to help people overcome their phobia of becoming airborne.

EasyJet will be holding a Fearless Flyer course at Newcastle Airport on February 24 and 25.

Over 6,000 people have attended the course since it launched in 2012, with more than 95 per cent of those attending said to overcoming their phobias.

During the ground course section at a venue near the airport phobia expert Lawrence Leyton teaches attendees proven mind techniques to control their nerves.

He is joined by a senior easyJet pilot who will explain the sounds and sensations experienced onboard a flight.

Attendees can then put their new skills and knowledge into practise on a one-hour flight featuring full in-flight commentary.

Nigel Bailey, who attended a previous course in Newcastle said: “I am so glad I took the Fearless Flyer course, it has changed my life and I am now looking forward to many years of stress-free flying.

Courses are £199 and participants can also invite a companion with them on the flight for £80.
