AN overturned lorry blocked the roundabout at Scotch Corner this evening.
Highways England said that the incident was affecting the northbound exit for the A1.
A motorist who came across the scene said: "It's a huge wagon and it's going to take some shifting. Looks like there could be disruption there for some time.
"It looked like the lorry driver had sustained an injury to his arm, but he otherwise looked okay."
The Highways spokesman said on Twitter at 8.45pm: "The overturned HGV is now being recovered. There is no access on to the A66 west from ScotchCorner whilst recovery takes place."
