CAR company Nissan, which has a plant in Sunderland, is to recall more than 5,000 UK vehicles due to a potential airbag problem.
The recall affects 5,525 Nissan Micra models produced between May 2010 and July 2012 and is part of a worldwide recall involving around 140,000 Nissan cars.
A Nissan Motor GB spokeswoman said the company had been informed by its airbag supplier Takata that some airbag inflators are thought to have been assembled incorrectly.
The problem, affecting the driver's airbag, could potentially lead to inflators rupturing.
