OVERNIGHT work to tackle wear and repair on the A66 between Brough, in Cumbria, and the border with County Durham, at Stainmore, started this week.
The Highways Agency is spending £170,000 to upgrade sections of the route.
Four nights of work around the Boundary at Stainmore was completed this morning (Friday, July 11) and repairs will take place around the Barras junction overnight on Monday, July 21 and Tuesday, July 22 and the final phase will be delivered along Brough bypass over five nights in mid August.
Lane closures will be in place at various times and on occasion drivers will be led past road works in 10mph convoys, a 40mph speed limit will be in place during the work.
