AN ANCIENT bronze ear from a Roman statue is to be sold at auction after being unearthed in a North Yorkshire field.
The ear, dating back 1,800 years, is thought to have fallen off the statue when it was being transported.
It was discovered by a metal detectorist and is expected to fetch around £300 when it is sold by Tennants in Leyburn on Friday (March 31).
