Nigel, the lonely gannet, has fallen in love with a stone statue of a female bird.
Statues of gannets were installed on rocky outcrops on Mana Island in New Zealand 40 years ago in a bid to attract a colony of real gannets.
So far, they have only attracted one male gannnet who has been nicknamed Nigel.
He has taken a particular liking to one statue of a female bird and has been spotted engaging in mating rituals with it - without any success.
