AN ILLITERATE burglar has ended up in court after he tried to rob a betting shop but went into the chip shop next door because he couldn't read the sign above the door.
Derek Carr, 49, got a friend to write his demands on the back of a betting slip before targeting the bookies in West Lothian, Scotland.
Carr, who was also drunk, ended up in the fish and chip shop next door, where he was told he'd got the wrong shop and the alarm was sounded.
Livingstone Sheriff Court has deferred sentencing.
