FIVE organisations in the North-East have been named as among the country’s most inclusive employers by equality charity Stonewall.
Stonewall has released a Top 100 list highlighting the best employers for lesbian, gay and bisexual staff.
The region’s highest placed employer was Your Homes Newcastle, which was ranked 28th in the UK.
Also making the list were Newcastle City Council, Teesside University, the North East Ambulance Service NHS Trust and Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Housing group Gentoo were also honoured for their consistent performance and “unwavering efforts to create inclusive workplaces where staff can bring their whole selves to work”.
Catherine Somerville, of Stonewall, said: “It’s fantastic to see so many organisations in the North East step up and demonstrate their commitment to LGBT equality, including Star Performer Gentoo.
“We’re confident that the hard work of the organisations featured in the Top 100 will encourage others across the region to increase their work around diversity and inclusion.”
