JOURNALISTS were among those who turned out today to pay their respects to former Northern Echo sports editor Jeff Todhunter.
Comment: Grandstand finish for Jeff
Jeff, who spent his working life at the Echo, becoming sports editor in 1972, was 79 when he died.
Mourners at Darlington Crematorium included former colleagues Tim Wellock, Clive Hetherington, Harry Mead, Kevin Dinsdale, Colin Woods, Nick Loughlin and Northern Echo editor Peter Barron.
Music had a sporting theme, with the Grandstand signature tune, Abide With Me and You’ll Never Walk Alone all being played.
Jeff was described as a "true gentleman with strong, old-fashioned values".
