POLICE searching for missing man Graham Roskell have confirmed that a body has now been found.
Mr Roskell, who was 65, disappeared from Harrogate District Hospital, where he was receiving treatment, on November 3 and despite a major search operation police had been unable to find him.
However a passer-by came across a body in a wooded area off York Road, Wetherby, at around 11.40am today.
The family of Mr Roskell, who lived in Kirk Hammerton, between York and Harrogate, have been informed and are now being supported by specially trained officers from North Yorkshire Police.
Formal identification of the body will take place in due course.
Superintendent Aubrey Smith said: “My thoughts and indeed those of everyone at North Yorkshire Police are with Mr Roskell’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.
“The past 11 days have been very traumatic for them.”
He added: “I would like to thank everyone, particularly all the members of the public and volunteers who have supported the search, for their hard work and dedication during the efforts to locate Mr Roskell.”
