IT'S not every day a Hollywood heartthrob drops into your local pub for a pint.

But on Saturday night Tom Hardy was in Yarm to the delight of local drinkers.

The Peaky Blinders star, who has also appeared in Mad Max and The Revenant, was only too happy to pose for photos.

One of those to meet him was Sam Clennett who was in the Black Bull on the High Street watching the Six Nations game between Scotland and England.

Sam, who runs the Thornaby-based stag and hen agency Hangover Weekends and sponsors Yarm and Eaglescliffe FC, said: "He was more than happy to get a photo with myself and another player.

"He was extremely polite and from what I’ve seen more than happy to get photo with anyone. I told him that his character ‘Alfie Solomon’ in Peaky Blinders is one of my favourite TV characters of all time."

Kathryn Brown of Newton Aycliffe met the star on Darlington station on Sunday night.

"I was with my boyfriend Carl Howe at Darlington Train Station and his friend who works there had served him and ran after him and shouted Tom and asked for a picture," she said.

"So we turned around to see who it was and it was Tom Hardy. We walked up and asked for a picture too, he was really nice and happy to take the picture."

Kathryn said she was a big fan of the star who is married to County Durham actress Charlotte Riley.

"I think he’s a great actor!" said Kathryn. "My favourite film of his is Bronson, it’s one of my favourite films!

"If our train had been on time we wouldn’t have seen him."

"Carl's Facebook post has been shared over 700 times and there’s over 1,000 comments. Last night people recognised us and said 'you’re the couple who are on Facebook with Tom Hardy'."

Cara Hall was also in Yarm on Saturday night and had her photo taken with Tom. She was on a hen night with friends Laura Morris.

"Tom was an absolute gent!" she said.
