SOME of the youngest runners to complete the Great North Run are celebrating their joint achievement to raise £10,000 for a children's charity close to their hearts.
Beth Robert, and twins James and Michael Lister, all aged 17 and sixth form students at Yarm School, initially set out to raise £1,500 for Children with Cancer.
However, with support of their schoolmates and families, the trio attracted thousands of pounds worth of sponsorships to help youngsters with cancer.
James said: “We all put a lot of effort into training to compete in the Great North run and it really paid off.
"Completing the challenge was a great achievement, and we have been able to raise a fantastic amount for an important charity.”
