WORK is under way to create the area where the stars set to appear at a restored theatre
The existing dressing room block of the Globe theatre in Stockton is being demolished to make way for the new facilities needed for the kind of large scale music and comedy acts the venue will host when it re-opens as a 3,000 capacity live entertainment venue.
A fully-accessible six storey extension will be constructed in its place to accommodate additional dressing rooms and a greenroom, as well as full high tech production and security facilities.
Cllr Nigel Cooke, Stockton Borough Council’s cabinet member for regeneration and housing, said: “The Globe will host some of the world’s best known bands, artists and comedians so it is vital that the restored building can offer the kind of facilities required to allow this to happen.
“It is fantastic that we are going to be able to achieve this while also bringing back the Grade II listed building to its art-deco glory.”
