THE most exciting thing on Georgia Xander-Edwards' mind as she picked up her baggage and headed to the arrivals lounge in Manchester Airport, after a sunshine break in Mexico, was a Greggs pasty and a coffee before she started the car journey back to Teesside across the M62.
So imagine her surprise when, as the 21-year-old walked through arrivals with her mother Julie, she felt a tap on her shoulder.
Standing before her was her boyfriend of three years, Matthew Auckland, 24, as a surprise, with a bunch of red roses. He went down on one knee, pulled out a "perfect" engagement ring, and asked for her hand in marriage.
"I wasn't expecting it at all," said Miss Xander-Edwards, from Hartburn. "The only thing I was thinking about was going to Greggs. My dad was with him, to take pictures, as he's a photographer.
"When he went down on one knee there were gasps from the other passengers and we got a massive round of applause."
The couple, who both work in retail, are planning a wedding in a couple of years and have started saving.
