A CHARITY volunteer is undergoing a trip of a life time to help communities on the other side of the world.
Hannah Collinson, from Billingham, is travelling to El Salvador or Sierra Leonne and Nicaragua to meet some of the communities that Catholic aid agency CAFOD work with.
As well as travelling to Central America, the 22-year-old will spend the year campaigning, fundraising and raising awareness of CAFOD’s work at a placement in Hexham and Newcastle.
Ms Collinson said: “I can’t wait to explore my faith, develop my leadership skills, and to not only learn a lot from others but to also learn a lot about myself.
“I am really looking forward to seeing first-hand the impact CAFOD makes and then having the opportunity to spread awareness of this incredible work."
The charity’s latest fundraising missions aims to help farmers to learn sustainable farming techniques, women to set up small businesses and urban communities to cope with the violence they can face and to build peace.
David Cross, CAFOD representative in Hexham and Newcastle, said: “It’s fantastic that Hannah has chosen to join our community and show her faith in a demonstrable way.
“We are really looking forward to the year ahead and can’t wait to see all the amazing things Hannah achieves.”
