TIME is running out for people wanting to sign up for a sporting event that challenges of their running and cycling skills.

The closing date for entry to the Stockton Duathlon in on Sunday, April 16 and people are being reminded to register before then as no entries will be taken after that date.

Now in its fifth year, the event now consists of four race distances to choose from to suit the abilities of all taking part.

The Duathlon, which is hosted by Stockton Borough Council in partnership with TriHard and is supported by British Triathlon, takes place on .Sunday, April 23

Councillor Norma Wilburn, the council’s cabinet member for arts, leisure and culture, said: “The Duathlon is one of the biggest and best on offer in the country so this is a fantastic opportunity for people to get involved and either test themselves against other competitors or enjoy the satisfaction of fulfilling a personal fitness goal.

“I’d encourage everyone thinking about it to take the leap and secure their place. It’s also set to be a great day out at another major sporting event in the Borough for those that come along to watch some exhilarating action alongside the River Tees.”

All races take place on fully closed roads that are flat, fast and spectator friendly. Cash prizes are on offer for first, second and third places in the Standard distance event for both males and females, plus there will be medals and goodie bags for all participants.
