A WOMAN went to help a man she thought was asking for directions only to discover he was indecently exposing himself.

The incident happened in the area known as the Black Path in Stockton

"A 29-year-old woman was walking alone on the Black Path in Stockton at around 2.20pm yesterday when she was approached by a man in a vehicle which drove up from behind her," said a spokeswoman for Cleveland Police.

"The car slowed and stopped beside her and the male driver called out to her. Believing he wanted directions, the woman went up to the car but realised that the man was indecently exposing himself."

The woman shouted at the man who then drove off, towards Norton Road.

The vehicle is described as dark blue, medium sized, possibly a VW or similar. However no registration plate details or model are known at this stage.

"The man is described as white, aged in his late 50s to early 60s, of medium build “with a belly”, short black hair with small tight curls and he was wearing glasses with thin dark frames. He was wearing blue denim jeans," said the spokeswoman.

  • Anyone who believes they know the identity of this man or anyone who was in the area at the time and who saw the car is asked to contact PC Neil Chisholm at Cleveland Police on 101
