SEEING her own show performed on stage will be a special moment for student Jody Gannon.

Not only does it mark the culmination of years of hard work for the 31-year-old from Billingham - but the production also carries a message.

Miss Gannon, working with Stockton's E3 Theatre Company, has produced a variety performance bringing together people of all abilities.

She said: “I wanted to show that just because you have a learning difficulty or disability it doesn’t mean you can’t perform as well as, and in some cases better than, anyone else."

Her production, Live It - Dream It - Do It, will be staged at Stockton Riverside College's theatre as part of its higher education performing arts season.

Starting next week, the theatre line-up will feature 11 shows produced and created by Teesside University performing arts students, working in partnership with Stockton Riverside College.

Miss Gannon, who is working with fellow student, Lauren McGarvey, said: “It has been hard work, but it is amazing experience to put all that you have learnt into practice, witnessing first hand all that goes into producing a show and then seeing it come together.”

She has worked with E3, a theatre company for young adults with learning difficulties or disabilities, for nine years and was keen to involve the group.

Live It – Dream It – Do It takes place at the Margaret Armstrong Theatre, Stockton Riverside College, Harvard Avenue, Stockton, on Wednesday May 4, 7pm. Tickets are £5 adults and £4 concessions.
