A WOMAN fought off an attempted robber with her walking stick.
The 61-year-old struck a man who grabbed her with her walking stick and he fled empty handed.
The incident took place at about 3pm yesterday (Weds, Feb 3) at a cash machine in Wellington Square, opposite Lidl, in Stockton.
Police are also appealing for information on a robbery, also in Stockton yesterday afternoon.
The second incident took place at about 3.10pm near Stockton Railway Station on Bishopton Lane. A handbag containing bank cards was stolen from an 87-year-old woman.
Two men aged 25 and 32 have been arrested in connection with both incidents and they remain in police custody.
