SHOPPERS will find larger than life animals have appeared on the High Street ready to make Stockton their home this Christmas.

The super-sized decorations arrived ready for the launch of winter festival Stockton Sparkles.

Last year’s much-loved shimmering reindeer has returned and this time is joined by a young calf while a larger than life illuminated polar bear and its cub can be found outside the Town Hall.

Cllr Norma Wilburn, Stockton Borough Council’s cabinet member for arts, leisure and culture, said: “These creatures are just the latest illuminated decorations to grace the High Street.

“With the dazzling gift box on the Shambles Market Hall and a giant glittering bauble on Dovecot Street the polar bear and the reindeers will help turn Stockton into a magical winter wonderland awash with sparkling lights and glittering features. Make a date in your diary for the launch of Stockton Sparkles to see these extra special decorations come to life.”

The giant decorations will be switched on during the launch of Stockton Sparkles between 5.30pm and 7pm on Thursday, November 26.
