DISHES from produce grown in a museum's Victorian walled garden are being served at a feast next month.
Preston Park Museum & Grounds, in Eaglescliffe, near Stockton, has teamed up with local restaurant The Waiting Room to treat visitors to dishes freshly harvested from its Victorian walled kitchen garden.
Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “The Victorian Walled Kitchen Garden at Preston Park Museum & Grounds is now in its third year and is largely run by a group of dedicated volunteers. The Walled Garden Feast is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate everyone’s hard work over the past year and for visitors of the museum to enjoy the garden’s heritage produce thanks to the talented chef’s at The Waiting Room.”
Visitors can expect to sample a variety of vegetarian dishes made from heritage produce from the garden.
Kitchen Gardener Mark Brooks will also be turning the public’s unwanted apples into apple juice using a traditional fruit press.
The Walled Garden Feast will take place in the Victorian Walled Kitchen Garden on Sunday 4 October at 12-3.30pm and is free with normal museum admission.
After the feast The Walled Kitchen Garden will close for winter and re-open in spring 2016.
