THEFT: Thieves who stole a car in Thornaby abandoned the vehicle when they were chased by police.
THIEVES who stole a car from Thornaby, near Stockton, abandoned the vehicle after a police pursuit.
Two occupants of the car were later arrested and are currently in custody.
The Vauxhall Zafira was spotted by a Cleveland Police road policing patrol overnight shortly after being stolen.
A spokesman for the force said: "Within minutes of being stolen this vehicle was spotted by one of our patrols.
"After a short pursuit the vehicle was abandoned whilst still moving and the occupants ran off into the estate.
"With the assistance of the dog section, both were located after hiding in gardens and are currently in custody."
