A LONG-ESTABLISHED medical practice in Stockton has completed its £3.35m refurbishment.

Patients were consulted during the planning for the new building and their feedback inspired the introduction of four colour zones, relating to the purpose of their visit, so patients can check themselves in at the correct area and avoid lengthy queues.

The surgery will also act as a base for the district nursing team, which will be available to them seven days a week, from 8am to 8pm, allowing them to support extended out of hours care for residents across Stockton.

The practice caters for around 12,500 patients and is now equipped with 21 consulting and treatment rooms, specialist utility areas, therapy rooms and a community group room.

Neil Schneider, Stockton Borough Council’s chief executive, helped open the new Tennant Street Medical Practice.

He said: “This commitment and investment is another fabulous addition to the facilities in Stockton Town Centre. It’s exactly the type of modern, user-friendly surgery that we all want to see providing a wide range of health services.”

Jenny Barrett, practice manager, said: “We are very proud of our new surgery and thankful to the many people whose help and support have made it possible.”
