THE NHS Blood and Transplant service is holding blood donation sessions in Billingham on Thursday (March 19).
The aim is to boost blood stocks ahead of Easter, traditionally a period when regular donors may be away with family and unable to attend blood taking sessions.
Sessions are being held at the Synthonia Club, in Belasis Avenue, Billingham, between 10.30am and 12.30pm; and 1.30pm and 4.30pm.
A spokeswoman said supplies of the universal blood group O Rh Negative was often in short supply.
Rarer blood groups A Rh Negative, B Rh Negative and AB Rh Negative were also vulnerable to shortfall.
In general anyone who is fit and healthy, weighs more than seven stone 12 lbs (50kg) and is between 17 and 66 can give blood.
If you are over 70 you need to have given blood in the last two years to continue donating.
