TWO further arrests have been made on suspicion of manslaughter after a 59-year-old supermarket worker died following an incident in Middlesbrough town centre's Tesco.

Two men, aged 35 and 37, are in custody after a suspected attempted theft at the Corporation Road store on Monday evening.

The member of staff fell ill and later died following the incident.

Two other men, aged 33 and 38, who were arrested yesterday, have been released without charge.

Police said a post mortem took place yesterday but said no details would be released about the cause of death while inquiries continue.

Detectives are continuing to look into whether the death could be linked to the attempted shop theft at about 7.30pm on Monday.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: "Our thoughts go out to the woman's family and friends at this difficult time."

Tesco said it was 'shocked and saddened' following the death of the woman, who was a member of staff.

It said in a statement: "Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to our colleague's family and friends at this difficult time."
