ONE of the victims of a serial rapist and paedophile facing a lengthy prison sentence for decades of abuse broke her silence last night – and said: "We've all suffered through this."

The woman was one of two who were kept captive in Michael Dunn's home and used by the evil offender as sex slaves, a jury heard during a harrowing trial at Teesside Crown Court.

Dunn, now 57, from Redcar, east Cleveland, also groomed a runaway schoolgirl and hid her from police in a secret room in a false wall, and raped and abused two other teenagers.

The father-of-three was found guilty of a catalogue of vile crimes at the end of the 13-day trial on Wednesday, and is expected to be sentenced some time next month.

Last night, the NSPCC described Dunn as "a violent sexual predator who went to extraordinary lengths to cover up his sickening crimes".

A spokesman added: “His actions will have had a hugely damaging effect on his vulnerable young victims and they’ve shown tremendous courage in reliving their ordeals in court.

“Thanks to them justice has finally been served and a long campaign of horrific abuse is over."

The court heard how Dunn - described by prosecutors as "violent and controlling" – convinced his naive young victims that they were in a relationship with him.

Dunn was convicted of ten rapes, three charges of false imprisonment and three of sexual assault; and was cleared of one rape and making threats to kill.

During his evidence – described by his own barrister as "moronic" – he insisted that none of the claims made by the complainants, who are now all adults, were true.

He showed little emotion as the verdicts were announced, simply shaking his head and giving a wry smile as he was found guilty of the third of the 11 rape charges he faced.

Prosecutor Richard Bennett said Dunn was "a violent, controlling and sexually abusive man" who "had sex when he wanted", and said his victims were his "possessions".

He had lived in Liverton Mines, east Cleveland, before moving to Manchester, Cambridgeshire, Gateshead, Ludworth in County Durham, and back to Dormanstown and nearby Redcar.

Dunn, now of Alfred Street, Redcar, was remanded in custody until he returns to be sentenced, once medical and background reports on him have been prepared.

His victim, none of whom can be named, said: "We've all suffered through this and it's been over a long time. I'm glad it's over but that's all I want to say."
