A FED-UP businesswoman who photographed youths trespassing on her roof says she fears someone will fall and be killed.

Julie Breen posted the pictures to Facebook and encouraged others to share them after witnessing teenagers on top of the three storey building in High Street, Redcar, which houses her venture, IntelliSight Opticians.

The incident on Saturday afternoon has been reported to police, but Mrs Breen, a director, said it was not the first time groups of youths had congregated there, damaging felt and tiles.

Mrs Breen, who has invested in CCTV for the property, said: “I was actually inside on the first floor and heard them running about on the roof so I came out onto the fire escape to film them.

“They were very quiet and meek except the ring leader who was a bit lippy.

“I have a business that has been trading 18 months and when we bought it we had the roof completely repaired.

“But over the 18 months teenagers have caused thousands of pounds worth of damage. It is because it is a flat roof and they can access it from other roofs around.

“It is vandalism and just malicious idiots. They have pulled our broadband line out a couple of times.

“I’ve seen a couple having sex and someone carrying a bike up there.”

She added: “My biggest fear is that somebody will be killed by falling onto the street below. One wrong step and that’s it they are dead.

“I know who they are, I actually had a phone call from the head of their school. It just baffles me as to why they want to be there and why they think it is okay to tamper with someone else’s property.”
