AN 86ft high church tower with sweeping views of the coast will be open to visitors on Sunday (August 7).
Visitors are invited to climb the tower at St Mark's Church in Marske-by-the-sea to see the bell ringers' room, Edwardian church clock mechanism and the eight bells, including a 600-year-old bell from the old St Germain's Church nearby.
On a clear day, the views from the top of the tower extend from Huntcliff, Saltburn and Skelton, round to Teesmouth and County Durham, and visitors can photograph the town and the surrounding countryside from the roof of the tower.
Those interested in attending are being asked to wear jeans and trainers or sensible shoes as the club involves a stone spiral staircase, a short vertical ladder and two flights of wooden stairs.
There will be a nominal admission charge in aid the Tower Repair Fund.
The tower will be open next Sunday from 2.30pm till 4.00pm. Tea and homemade cakes will be served on the church lawns.
